Wine Blogging Wednesday #47: Today’s Wine Brought To You By The Letter “S”
Posted on 22. Jun, 2008 by Erin in Wine Blogging Wednesday

Welcome to Wine Blogging Wednesday #47! This July 2008 edition marks our first tour of duty as host blog, and continues the tradition of started by Lenndevours way back in July of 2004. Michelle and I are honoured to act as your humble hosts, having been longtime supporters and participants (albeit generally a bit tardy).
So, on the eve of the 4th birthday of WBW, we’d like to regress a little bit into our childhood, when things were simple, creativity was encouraged and the whole world seemed like a new and exciting place just waiting to be explored. Now as adults and wine lovers, with stress and the occasional sense of imposed snobbery, we sometimes lose that pure, indescribable ability to have a little fun. The wine world still is a new and exciting place; no matter how long you’ve been in the business of wine writing, the dizzying array of varieties, people and places that are represented in every bottle ensure that there’s always something more to learn, and to love.
We’re asking you to be a kid again, think outside the box, and pick a wine embodies the following theme:
![]() |
TODAY’S WINE BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE LETTER “S” Sound vague? Intentional. We want to see what you come up with when you’re given near limitless options. The word beginning with “S” must be directly related to your bottle of wine (think region, appellation, producer, varietal, style, winemaker, etc) but that’s the only rule. Get cracking, have fun, and we’re looking forward to some truly bizarre associations. |
This is a theme that everyone can easily get into, so recruit some friends, spice up your tasting club and/or get some people involved that have never participated in Wine Blogging Wednesday before. We love to see excited first time posters!
On, or before, Wednesday July 9th simply scribble a note on your tasting experience and post it to your blog, in the comment thread to this post here at Grape-Juice, or at the Wine Blogging Wednesday site. I want to make sure that everyone participating gets mentioned in the round-up, so please email me (erin-at-grape-juice-dot-ca) with a link to your entry if you’ve published it online. No blog? No problem! Just email me with your notes and I’ll make sure that they’re included.
